A smaller study within Schibli's Alchemy series, this piece compresses the same process — gold metal leaf sealed beneath acrylic and epoxy — into an intimate 50 × 40cm format built for close viewing rather than a room-filling presence.
Where the larger Alchemy works read as thresholds, this one reads as a fragment of the same language: the gold surfaces and recedes as the light shifts, a small transformation held in a fixed frame.
