Most paintings are finished the day they're signed. This one isn't.

Oxidation mediums don't stop reacting once the paint dries — they keep working, slowly, unevenly, for years after the canvas leaves the studio. What you're looking at today is not exactly what you'll be looking at in a decade. The gold leaf holds steady. Everything beneath it keeps changing.

That's the alchemy the title points to — not the pursuit of gold for its own sake, but the belief that transformation, once started, doesn't ask permission to stop. At 170 by 150 centimetres, this is the largest and most materially ambitious work in the Alchemy line: a painting that is, quite literally, still becoming itself.
